UNI4

User Guide

Overview

HomeSphere UNI4 is a wireless, low-voltage relay featuring potential-free(dry) contacts. Use UNI4 to remotely switch on/off appliances powered VDC (24V max.) or VAC (250V max.) source. Each contact can operate both in pulse and bistable mode. The device communicates with your devices via WiFi using Apple’s HomeKit. In the line of sight, the communication distance is unlimited when using your Apple TV or iPad as a smart home hub.

Regardless of the type of electrical circuit, only a qualified electrician should install UNI4.

The UNI4 contacts are not galvanically connected to the device itself, so they can be connected to the input control circuits of various equipment to imitate a button, toggle switch, etc.

Operating Principle

UNI4 features dry (potential-free) contacts. The contacts are not connected to the device galvanically so that UNI4 can imitate a button, switch, etc. in electrical circuits of various voltages. The DIN-rail compatible body makes it possible to install UNI4 inside a junction box ora switchboard.

UNI4 closes and opens the contacts by user command from the app or automatically by scenario.
UNI4 automatically preserves contact state when reboots for example in case of power failures.

Relay operation modes:
Bistable — Relay opens or closes contact and remains in this state.
Pulse — Relay opens or closes contacts for a pre-set time (from 0.5 to 255 seconds) then switches back to the initial state.

Relay operation mode can be set from HomeSphere app for each of 4 contacts.

Connecting

Before connecting the device:
1. Open Home app on your iOS device and create at least one home.
2. Connect contacts to controlled equipment.
3. Connect UNI4 to 12 or 24 VDC power supply.

Pairing UNI4:
UNI4 can be paired using built-in Home app or by using HomeSphere app. We recommend using HomeSphere app so that you can perform firmware upgrade after pairing.

Performing firmware upgrades improves overall stability of the device and may add new features.

1. Wait for UNI4’s status light indicator to start blinking blue.
2. Open HomeSphere app and tap “+” in the top rightcorner.
3. Scan the QR code on the device.
4. Wait for the device to connect.

If the device failed to pair, try resetting device by holding reset button using a pin for approximately 10 seconds.

Indication

UNI4’s status light indicator is green when paired and functioning normally. When the device is ready for pairing the light will blink blue and when the pairing is in progress, the blue light is on.
